Hi Jim. I just wanted to say I have enjoyed this site and found it to be extremely informative. I must be a very lucky veteran. I applied for disability in May of 2009 and received 40% rating in December. The very next day I filed notice of appeal for other conditions that were denied. I have found the VA to be very accomodating and the health care I have been receiving since last August is excellent. I steered clear of the VA System for many years, would not even consider filing for disability, (even though I was certain I was entitled to it) because I would not consider spending the amount of time it would take to go through the process. After moving back to Texas, I met a representative of the Texas Veterans Commission and he has helped me work my way thorught the process and I have been extremely impressed (almost beyond belief) with the way things have progressed. He advised me I probably would not hear anything for at least six months and I received notification of my award almost six months to the day. I know it is not this way for many veterans and that is really sad. I guess it must be different in the different Regional offices but I am one happy VietNam veteran and am trying my best to help others iin similar situations. Again, thank you for the incredible site.
